Strength in numbers: sharing reading moments

This week, I would like to invite you to use your sense of initiative. Here are a few ways you can add to your reading corner by working with others.

  • Take turns visiting your local library (a different early childhood educator each month) and share your findings.
  • Rotate the books that you offer in your daycare by creating a book sharing basket.
  • Use email to create a journal in which you can share your favorite books and monthly picks.
  • Share the titles of the books your group especially enjoys with your daycare administrators.
  • Always bring a few storybooks to team meetings.
  • Share your findings with parents and encourage them to inform you of their recent literary discoveries.

I hope these simple ideas will help you create a strong reading network with your co-workers, parents, and the children in your group.
