BOOK SUGGESTION

THEME: Summer safety

The best thing to spark a conversation about summer safety is a book about a pool party! Although Splish Splash is a book I first purchased as an early reader book for my daughter who was in 2nd grade at the time, I really enjoy reading it to my preschooler too!

The story is about a little girl who is getting a new swimming pool just in time for the first day of summer. To celebrate, her family organizes a pool party. As readers, we look forward to the pool party as much as the main character does. We share her disappointment too when the first day of summer turns out to be a rainy first day of summer.

This book isn't just cute, the story contains a wonderful message too. Why should a rainy day get in the way of a pool party (or any type of fun for that matter)? No reason at all...and this book proves just that!

Don't be surprised if children come to daycare wearing their bathing suits the next time it rains! Have a pool party of your own and maybe, just maybe, sunshine will prevail!
