A colorful environment!

The environment in which we evolve greatly influences the way we feel and act.

When we are decorating and furnishing a room, there are several things to consider such as the purpose of the room, the furniture and how it will be arranged, as well as the color of the walls and accessories. I have studied the significance of colors and the impact they can have on us.

I feel it is interesting to pay close attention to our choice of colors, especially in regards to decorating a daycare. It is possible to decorate rooms by adding elements of various colors precisely associated with the function we wish to give them.

It is my belief that the right choice of colors can change the dynamics of your group and at times, even correct certain difficulties. I have prepared a short résumé of my findings on the subject to help you analyze your current decor. I am not suggesting that you spend a fortune redecorating wall to wall. Sometimes, simply adding a few accessories or repainting a few details are sufficient to see a difference.

Colors

Blue: No matter the shade, blue is associated with relaxation and calm. An environment surrounded by blue encourages trust and allows our bodies to let go and get rid of certain levels of stress. Blue is symbolic of escape and reverie. It is ideal for the napping room.

Yellow: Being a luminous color, it lights up darker rooms while adding a touch of joy. It also acts as a stimulant since it is recognized for exciting the eye. This color should be used in a room which is not occupied all day or it can be used with another color.

Orange: Its properties resemble those of yellow since they are both sunny colors. However, orange is known for aiding self-esteem and prompting good mood.

Red: This color stimulates the body which can be perceived two different ways. It can produce a high level of positive energy and create a warm effect depending on the shade. On the other hand, this color is associated with impulsion and anger. It is often associated to action and sports. That is why we find plenty of red in sport publicities. It can be appropriate for rooms used to develop motor skills where there is lots of movement.

Green: Well-known as the color of hope, green, no matter the shade, brings life and harmony to a room. It also reflects health and happiness. It is a highly versatile color which can easily be used in any room.

Purple: It symbolizes freedom and space. This may be why many artists choose it to decorate their studios.

Black: Often negatively perceived, it is associated with mourning, solitude, sadness, and authority. However, used conservatively, it can create an expressive effect depending on the colors it is paired with. It must be used in small quantities to avoid a suffocating feeling.

Naturally, I am not an expert in the matter. It is my curious side which brought me to research the subject. I thought the information could interest you and possibly encourage you to investigate further.
