Eggs

Activities involving eggs for babies!

(Open models - eggs)

Baskets and eggs
Provide several fairly large and very colourful plastic eggs along with Easter baskets. Babies will have fun filling the baskets with eggs and emptying them. You may also provide egg cartons and deposit the eggs inside.

Sound eggs
Use plastic eggs which can be opened. Add rice, legumes, uncooked pasta, or peas to each egg. I used tape to seal the eggs closed and found that it held them together very well. If you are afraid the eggs will open, use only rice. It is not harmful if a baby swallows a grain of rice.

An egg snack
Hide a small snack inside the eggs. You may add cereal for example. Let babies shake their egg. Open it for them. They will be delighted to discover a snack inside!

An egg recipe
Deposit half of a hard-boiled egg on noodles (angel hair or spaghetti) or alfalfa.

Window egg art
Use plastic sheet protectors (used to slide documents inside). Using a permanent marker, draw eggs and cut them out. Encourage babies to paint the eggs. Add a small amount of water to the back of the eggs and display in a window. You will have beautiful stained glass eggs. (Be sure not to stick the side on which you drew the eggs on the window because the permanent marker could transfer to the glass.)

Egg song

Twinkle, twinkle little egg

Twinkle, twinkle little egg
How I wonder where you are
Easter bunny please tell me
Where you hid my Easter egg
Twinkle, twinkle little egg
How I wonder where you are

When I wake up from my nap
I will find you little egg
Until then I close my eyes
Dream of Easter, bunnies too
Twinkle, twinkle little egg
How I wonder where you are
