Ball game (running, throwing, kicking)

This game encourages little ones to run.

Required material:

  • Several beach balls
  • Cones

If you have a playground or park with spacious soccer fields near your daycare, it is the safest location for this activity which encourages movement.

You will need several beach balls. I like using beach balls since they are easy to transport and safe for use with very young children.

Older babies will enjoy throwing them, pushing them with their feet, and running after them. If you wish, you may place cones on the ground and encourage toddlers to push the balls towards the cones with their feet.

Bring warm blankets along, depending on the season. Younger babies can sit on them to play with the beach balls. For younger babies, avoid blowing the beach balls up completely, it will be easier for them to grab and hold them.
