Picture board for highlighting monthly activities
If like me, you work with babies and toddlers, I think creating a board that can be used to display pictures of the children in your group represents a great way to share children's daycare activities with parents. As a bonus, a picture board can also highlight the wonderful work you do each day.
The picture board
Simply laminate a large piece of cardboard with adhesive paper. Hang your picture board on a wall in your hallway or entrance, where parents are sure to see it. Use dry-erase markers to write the name of the month at the top of your picture board so you can easily wipe it away and change the title over time.
Pictures
Always keep a camera in your daycare so you can easily grab it to capture interesting moments or activities. Print the pictures you feel best represent children's appreciation of different daycare activities. Add them to your picture board and use dry-erase markers to write fun comments under each one.
At the end of the month
When you clear your picture board to make room for new pictures, slide the old pictures in children's communication journals or, if you prefer, add them to tiny picture albums and hold on to them. At the end of the year, you can send a picture album home with each child.
Simply erase any writing on your board and start over on the 1st of every month.
