A lamp for zen moments - Extra activities - Educatall

A lamp for zen moments

I don’t know if it’s just the time of year, but I have officially entered “cocooning mode”. The days are shorter, and I just want to wrap myself in a big scarf and blanket and sit back, relax, and enjoy the present moment.

I have always tried to create a “cocooning” atmosphere to enjoy with my children. I like candles, but they can’t safely be used in a child’s room. I am sure you agree.

Today, I would like to share the small lamps we recently created with you. They are safe and perfect for creating the “cocooning” atmosphere we are so fond of. Seriously, each lamp costs no more than $2 and children love them! I use them for yoga classes and children ask for them time and time again.

To create a lamp, you will need:

  • A clear plastic jar or container
  • A set of small lights ($2 at your local dollar store)
  • 2 AA batteries

P.S. If you wish to make a lamp for each child, you will need a set of the above materials for each child.

To assemble your lamp, insert the batteries in the battery holder that comes with the lights. Turn the lights on. Insert the string of lights in the jar or container. Place the lid on the jar or container and admire the lights. You will see…the end result is beautiful! Turn the ceiling lights off and enjoy practicing a few yoga poses or a relaxation activity with your group. You can also use the lamps to, for example, light up a cabin that children built with blankets. The magical possibilities are endless!
