CIRCLE TIME
Angel-themed circle time
Every morning, have fun hiding an object related to angels within your daycare. As soon as children find it, photograph the item and print the picture. Display it on a special wall near your daycare entrance so that children can tell their parents all about what they found at the end of the day.
Wear an accessory related to the theme to greet children each morning. Name an “angel of the day” and grant him or her special privileges.
Let the angels speak
Create your very own “speech halo”. You can simply decorate a hat or crown and use it to identify whose turn it is to speak. Hide several pictures related to the theme throughout your daycare and encourage children to search for them. They can set them all in a basket in the center of your circle time area. Use the pictures to introduce the theme.

Use electrical tape to draw a simple angel outline on the floor. Give children colorful bean bags. Invite them to stand a few feet from the angel and toss the bean bags towards the angel outline. The goal is to “color” the angel with the bean bags.

Use 12 Christmas-colored paper plates to create 6 pairs of angel “cards”. Simply glue pictures of angels on the plates and set them upside down on a table or on the floor. Children take turns turning 2 plates over. If a child finds matching angels, he keeps them and plays again. If a child turns over 2 different angels, his turn is over.

Find pictures of angels (examples : greeting cards, old calendars, books, etc.) and cut them using serrated scissors to create 2 or 3-piece puzzles. Give each child one puzzle piece and hide the remaining pieces throughout your daycare. Children must find the missing pieces to complete their puzzle.

Instead of playing “Simon says…”, play “The angel says…” Give children instructions. They must execute them only if you say, “The angel says…” first. Otherwise, they must remain perfectly still.

Play hide-and-seek with an angel-themed twist. Have one child wear angel wings and hide in your daycare. The other children must search for the “angel” as quietly as possible.

(Open game-Four angels) Print, glue the cards on opaque cardboard, and cut them out. Arrange all the cards upside down on the floor or table (so you can’t see the illustrations). Children take turns rolling a die. Every time a child rolls a “1”, he can turn a card. If he doesn’t already have this angel in front of him, he keeps it and places it in front of him for everyone to see. The first child who has collected all four angels wins.
